In 2010, following on many years of academic co-operation, the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History at Uppsala University engaged in a teaching exchange programme with both Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique and the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

The co-operation currently involves the exchange of teaching materials, recent publications and staff. For example, PhD candidate Marjaana Kohtamäki will be an assistant lecturer at the University of Pretoria from September-December 2011.

In addition, Eduardo Mondlane University are currently developing a course in Archaeology with the support of teachers from Uppsala University.

We are happy for the support from colleagues at both universities, and hope that the programme can grow in the future.
