Conference on human-environment dynamics

The international conference ‘Human-Environment Dynamics in the Peloponnese and Beyond: Ideas – Methods – Results’, took place in Athens, Greece, 6-8 April, 2017. 

The conference was a hosted by the PELOPS (Past Environments and Landscapes of Peloponnesian Societies) group, which is an interdisciplinary group of scholars with an ongoing engagement in human-environment interaction in the Peloponnese from archaeology, history, environmental and climate reconstructions, in collaboration with the Swedish institute at Athens and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.The opening lecture was delivered by professor Michael Given, University of Glasgow, at the Acropolis Museum, followed by a welcome reception at the Swedish Institute at Athens. The main part of the conference, comprising 16 lectures during two days by PELOPS group members and invited speakers, was held at Cotsen Hall, the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.
